The Elk Grove Police Department recently made a presentation on teen illegal street racing/unsafe driving in our community. Discuss (means more than one sentence) your ideas about this topic as follows:

Do you always wear a seat belt? Why or why not?
Do you have friends that drive too fast? If not have you witnessed teens driving too fast or unsafely?
What are your concerns with teens driving too fast?
What can you do if you’re riding in a car where a friend or family member starts racing or driving unsafely?

California General Election

Describe your day working in the polls during the General Election on November 4, 2008.

Describe where you worked, the people you worked with (were they helpful? Their attitude towards teenagers or young adults, had they done poll working before, etc), the equipment that was used, and ultimately the people that came in to vote at the site you worked at.

Positive Support Project

Most successful people have structures in their lives that help keep them focused on their goals and moving in a positive direction. Identify three of your own favorite positive supports – three motivators in your life that give you energy to work toward positive goals. Some examples may include your religion or faith, your family, your friends, hobbies, music, art, or sports.

Using all the writing skills you have learned, type a five-paragraph essay describing your three positive supports. Be sure to include an introduction and a conclusion paragraph in addition to three, well-developed body paragraphs describing the importance of the three supports in your life.
